Horticulture

The Horticulture Program researches:

  • Fruits, 
  • Vegetables, and 
  • Roots/tubers. 

The research aims to promote production improvements that provide an economic advantage to the grower. The Program conducts trials to compare varieties, fertilizer applications, planting densities, cultivation methods, etc. Making such comparisons over time and across locations enables the Horticulture Program to make recommendations that guide growers, solve practical problems, improve yield and quality of crops, and, in general, promote the development of horticulture in The Gambia.
